NW IL
Are we talking a 3ft I and J roller or something larger and heavier?

I'm assuming you are wondering about growing rye to crimp at the ends? Any reason why you couldn't do permanent clover or low growing cover crop? Phacelia or even zinnias or marigolds might be a good pollinator habitat.

To answer your question, If you've got a good thick rye stand i don't think the crimper would hurt drip tape, especially if it's a heavier mil and a smaller crimper, though there's a chance it might break any emitters that are showing. For the mainline I think the line would prevent the crimper from getting a good crimp on the rye. If you are driving over the mainline and your crimper blades are sufficiently dull (you want to crimp the rye not cut it after all) then I imagine the mainline might survive, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
