I aerated a few times, seeded, then ran the cultimulcher over with the tines up to roll it in. Worked good. Multi-year deal for me to get it thick enough but I'm gaining. 3 acres here too. Around here, spring seeded is tough to get going. I did some patches in mid March and even after some nice rains it is patchy. I will hit it again this fall. Good luck
