Hennepin, IL | IMO, and somebody posted the same down below, $15 minimum wage is nowhere near the issue or the shock it would've been 10 years ago. Honestly aside from doing some crap work for a fly by night outfit, I don't see too many minimum wage jobs anymore. Most of the burger flippers at McDonald's are starting at $12 now. Walmart has a distribution center near me and there's been a billboard outside for over a year advertising starting wages at $19something and up. Honestly if we want to have a minimum wage as a decent floor its probably about time to raise it. $15 may be an overshot, but like I said nothing like it would've been even 5 years ago. The only ones it may squeeze are the businesses that are reliant on skilled help at $17-20/hour. | |
