Northern Nebraska | Yes a universal basic income would be better. Before covid we were headed for an automated workforce and now we are hurdling towards the end of physical labor jobs in this country.
We have much larger problems than who is president looming. What do we do with an economy where most people won't have a job?
Now my libertarian side says that is stupid but my humanity side says well we can't let those people starve to death.
I see two options. We choose to live as luddites or we adapt the economy to match the ever growing tech mechanical and artificial intelligence in the workplace. Either a return to Jeffersonian yeoman ideals or a star trek socialist society. I don't see how we can have an Eisenhower style economy with artificial intelligence.
I can't say I like either outcome. I prefer our postwar lifestyle.
