Subject: RE: Annual rye grain in wheat

Texas
I got mine from a previous tenant on a place that planted some “feed wheat” and never harvested it.

I mold boarded it and planted certified seed. Still have it. The places that had cows on them December 1 I haven’t noticed any rye heading out. But places without cows or stocked in February look pretty tacky.

Some local BTO’s have fields that are 50% rye Atleast. And I mean thousands of acres. It’s pretty much spread to everyone now. Sure sucks selling wheat for $5 and buying seed for $25. I think I’ll try to get cows earlier next year.
I might walk a few acres of my seed block with a 18V hedge trimmer. There’s probably a rye stalk every 3 steps.
