Subject: RE: Annual rye grain in wheat

Eastern WA
Things that have been tried around here.

1. Hire a crew to walk the field and pull it
2. Pull it yourself (what we do)
3. Put a weed wiper sponge on a 2x4 and hook it to backpack sprayers and two guys walk the field carrying the 2x4
4. Guy had an old Oliver crawler that he cut the pads down to the width of the rails, mounted a hydraulic drive sickle bar high in front. Then clipped heads off.
5. Walk the field with a weed eater and clip the heads off.
6. Cut around the rye patches. Then cut the rye patches and sell for feed grain.
7. Cut the rye patches at harvest and dump them in a draw.
8. Cut the thick patches green and bale for hay.

I hate rye….
