Subject: RE: Real world opinions on strip till

East Central, Nebraska
i have probably been strip tilling for ten years now maybe. my goal is to do 30 or so percent of my acres every year. i would like it to be more but i never seem to have enough time. the equipment is expensive and just keeps getting crazier. my experience and the biggest problem in the industry is their are machines out there that are tremendously expensive but also do not do that good of a job.

when it comes down to return on investment i believe it all depends on your fertility. if you have some majorly deficient fields then deep banding n-p-k can pay you back crazy fast. if your fields are in excellent shape already i am not sure at the end of the day that it pays all that well. then again though if your as slow as me at covering all your acres then when you finally get back to it you see it pay well again. getting fertilizer down into the profile is where the money is at.
