I really like the results we’ve had with strip till. We do it mainly on hilly farms that we don’t like to till at all if we don’t have to. We have had some nice fields and we do it all in the fall and let the strip mellow out all winter and it’s smooth and mellow to plant into in the spring

My concern for you is the 15” corn. Putting a 4”-6” wide strip every 15” is a lot of tillage. You’ll be working nearly 33% of the field, and that’s a significant amount.

If it’s me, I’d try to have it custom applied this fall and split 2-3 fields and see what you think of it, a good strip till rig that’s setup right can be pricey


I want to take the covering knives off because I still want to be “no till”. I think a straight cutting disc and a lot disturbance fertilizer knife run in the fall, will barely leave evidence of anything going though the field
