Redwood Falls, MN | I'm not sure what depth you're considering for "deep" banding but the Yetter Magnums we use place the fertilizer consistently 4-5" deep and leave very minimal disturbance. I started with strip tilling and also no-tilling at the same time. After comparing the 2 practices for 5 yrs, have shifted to banding our fertilizer with the Yetter Magnums vs the strips because of fuel/time efficiencies, less soil disturbance and same yield. We band our fert in the fall and plant right on that band in the spring. I put the row cleaners and Cleansweep system from my planter on them to clean the residue to create a darker strip to help it warm in the spring. The one picture is what it looks like with the row cleaners raised. I would think you could space these out on a bar and achieve 15" spacing and not have the disturbance of the strips.
