Here in my spot in SW Ohio I've settled on about 40 lbs of rye spread ahead of corn or beans, don't like it thicker. This year I've killed most of the rye going to beans when it was no more than 12" high, what I planted so far went in very nice. I still have a farm that needs sprayed but too wet to do it, so now may plant it green. have all my corn going into rye that is alive and well, I might be very glad it is because our forecast is for good chances of rain for next 8-9 days, really hope that's wrong, so rye could be pretty big when planting corn, but "here" it sure plants nice when planted green no matter how tall. But at 65 lbs you are going to have a lot of rye, no way would I do any tillage on that, my planter will go right though it. It will suck the moisture out the taller it gets, which most years is why I plant it, last year it took out way too much but July and August rains saved it. Already had over 5" in April, May not looking good to start.
